Books on books on books
I love reading. I also love buying books. I used to love libraries, but that has changed since moving to Miami. The libraries here never have new release, or even semi new release books available. How long ago did Eat, Pray, Love come out? And there is still a wait list for it. I'm not about to wait a month to read a book!
But you know what's better than a free, borrowed book? A 50 cent book you can keep! The four books above were all collectively about $2, purchased at thrift stores. I highly recommend scouring your local thrift stores for books if you have the time. And you really have to have the time, because there is usually no order to a thrift store book rack.
I saw the film adaptation of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly years ago. It was incredible. I have since wanted to read the book but somehow never got my hands on it, until I saw it today at the Bargain Barn. Super excited to read it! I also stumbled upon The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen, which seemed like a steal at 50 cents, so I snatched it up.
I found the two short story collections at the Wynwood Salvation Army. I got hooked on short stories in college, where I had to read them by the dozen. They are great for discovering authors you've never read before.
So now I have about 15+ books on my bookshelf waiting to be read. There are worse things.
